Uttara police have arrested banned Islamist outfit Hizb-ut Tahrir's chief coordinator Mahiuddin Ahmed. Deputy DMP commissioner, Uttara Zone, Nesarul Arif told they picked him up early on Tuesday from his Green Road house. Mahiuddin, also spokesman of Hizb-ut Tahrir in Bangladesh, and an associate professor of the Institute of Business Administration of Dhaka University, is facing charges of reorganising the group.
The government of Bangladesh on Oct 23 last year banned the Islamist outfit, saying it posed threat to public safety.
