Cop gunned down in Dhaka

                                                    Dhaka, April 20 (SANS Correspondent):

The second officer of Bangshal Police Station was gunned down by unknown criminals and his friend sustained bullet wounds at Dholaikhal in the capital early Tuesday.The deceased was identified as Gautam Chakrabarty. Additional Deputy Commissioner Walid Hussain of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said Gautam challenged three youths in Dholaikhal area on way to his Wari residence by his friend's jeep at about 2:30am for their suspicious movement.

When he was searching the bodies of the youths, one of them opened fire on him and fled away, leaving Gautam dead on the spot. Gautam's friend Azam, who was driving the jeep, also received bullet wounds during the incident. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. DMP Commissioner AKM Shahidul Haque visited the DMCH where the body of Gautam was sent for autopsy.
